Can I use Hollow Points and Ballistic Tip Bullets?

Question:

Can I use Hollow Points and Ballistic Tip Bullets?

Answer:

You can use any type of bullet, including Hollow Points and Ballistic Tips. Our Ballistic Polymer Targets will seal back to approximately 98% hole closures when using jacket bullets such as Ball or FMJ, leaving a black pin prick mark.

Hollow Points and Ballistic Tip bullets work like a cookie cutter and remove a small amount of target material, so the hole seals back to 90% leaving a 1/16 to 1/8 inch hole, depending on bullet diameter.

What Color Target Shows Up Best?

Our experience has been that it depends on your location. Orange stands out in most locations such as sandy soils, rocky and grassy areas. In the southern regions were the soil is more red in color, the Yellow stands out. In the northern regions Black stands out against the snow covered ground. Black also works best for those who use Laser’s or Lighted Optics.
